Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin broke records with their fundraising event in Eau Claire last week, "Bowl for Kids' Sake." The bowling-themed event runs in shifts over several weeks in bowling alleys in Hudson, River Falls, Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire. Proceeds from the event goes to fund the 40+ year old organization, which matches children with mentoring adults. The weather was chilly for those without fur, but it didn't stop the Doherty High Paws team from participating in the Walk for Animals on May 4th. The Career Solutions walkers (Lisa Sablak, Mickey Doherty, Gena McElwain, Matt Janes, Lindsay Hewitt, Beau Radford)—along with friends, family, and pets—signed up for a 4-mile walk to raise funds to provide food, shelter, and medical attention to animals brought to the Humane Society.
